Yes, I’m really a winner! This past week, I went to my favorite running store, The Emmaus Run Inn. I entered a fundraising raffle they were having for one of their shoe reps. And guess what? I won an entry into the Runner’s World Half-Marathon. YAY!
I was debating this year whether to run the hat trick again that weekend. It consists of a 5k and 10k on Saturday, followed by a half-marathon on Sunday. I’ve run it the past two years. The first year was amazing. I felt pretty good by the end of the half on Sunday. When I ran it last year, it was a different story. I don’t know if it was just my lack of motivation or just my struggles with running last year. By the time I got to the finish line, I was finished! I started hyperventilating, the finish line helpers were doing their best to figure out what I needed, and my husband was doing his best to try to get to me and find out what was going on. Luckily, I only needed a drink and to catch my breath. It was definitely not as fun as the year before.
Back to the raffle. When I called my little sister, Melissa, to tell her that I won, she asked if I would do the hat trick again. When I said I didn’t know what I was going to do, she said, why don’t you just enjoy the half-marathon. You know what? She’s right! This race runs through my hometown. I’m going to just run the half and have a good time doing it!
So now I can add another race to my calendar. I’m looking forward to it.
In the garden this week, the daffodils are all up and blooming. They won’t last long though if we get the freezing temps at night they’re predicting. I’m thinking of going out and picking them all, so I can enjoy them in the house, before they all drop over from the cold!
Happy running and gardening!
